History
In 1947, The Optimist Club opened a center for the young people in Gainesville, TX. In 1959, this center was chartered by Boys Clubs of America (now known as Boys & Girls Clubs of America) with a minimal number of members and money in the bank, the building was built by the community. In 1995, programs were extended to reach teens and a Teen Center was opened for members in middle school and high school.
Since that time, the membership has grown to serve over 2,592 youth in the year 2018. Our new building, opened May 7, 2016, is a 32,700 square foot facility that provides our members with a game room, tech lab, education room, art room, double gym, outdoor field, a separate teen side with computer lab, games room, library, recreation area, and gym.
Our After School Program and Summer Program provide our members with youth development programs and activities which can be found under the 'What We Do' tab.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Cooke County does not turn away any child wanting to participate in their programs.
